Hi and apologies for the chronic newbies question - I want to get a hybrid bike mainly for the road but also a little bit of off road now and then (only light).

Are the Carrera or Boardman bikes at Halfrauds half decent for a beginner? Looking to spend £300ish.

How off road do you want to go? If its for cycle paths then the carrera subway is a fantastic bike for the price, highly regarded on the forums .
I had one for a few years and i wish i had kept it .

Yep, nothing more strenuous than cycle paths really so I think the Carrera Subway could be the way to go. Thanks again.

Halfords carrera crossfire 2 is on offer £299 was£369 I almost bought one of these at the end of november.Looks an even better bike now for the money
