Hi,

I understand from many sources that you shouldn't clamp to an aluminium frame and should use the seatpost instead, unless that carbon.

Well, I have an aluminium frame with a carbon seatpost and so have been using a different seatpost to hold my bike.

Besides the pain of having to remove and replace my seatpost it puts the whole bike a bit lower that it should be if clamped to the seattube for instance.

My question is, is it ok to push another seattube far into the frame and clamp around that part of the frame. My thinking being that the seatpost will stop the clamp from crushing the seatube.

Would this be ok to push my carbon post far into the frame and clamp around it? I am thinking that the post itself will be crushish resistant enough to hold the clamp?

Incidentally the bike is a 2009 Specialised Comp.

Thanks in advance,

Ian
