Apparently my bike tools are the only eye-sore within a 5 mile radius, and I'm hearing grief about them.
How many of you have your bike tools indoors? and do you have a dedicated tool box for them??
The other two points of contention are that A: the smaller box with the yellow latches is the DIY toolbox.. and isn't proportionate to the red bike tools box, and B: the bike tools box is always locked unless I'm working out of it.. (my justification being any of my bike tools being used for anything around the house is likely to result in the tool being mis-used so there's no excuse for anyone to be in there.

The tool boxes, in the corner of the kitchen, sitting undignified next to the bin (didn't have any other place in the house for the box... )

I'm sorry, but that is ridiculous. A couple of multi-tools, self-adhesive patches, tyre levers, a spare chain link and a chain tool and that is your lot. The rest is what bike shops are for.

I was going to say that's more than my partner brings in to the house but thinking about it a lot of the stuff from the garage comes in, whether it's for the bikes, cars, motorbikes or woodworking. I tolerate it because he does lots of maintenance on my bike because I use it for work everyday.

When I get fed up I just take it all back to the garage mostly put it back in the right place (unless he's 'tidied' up and moved it all).
I just get really cross I can't get to my stuff (drill, toolbox etc - heaven forbid that I use his) mostly my stuff is at the back of the garage on shelves I can't reach - I'm 5'2 he's 6'4.

We have bike tools all over the house, on the kitchen table, in the living room, in the lean to. I'd love to have a proper toolboard and work bench for our shed - but suspect if we did they'd still sneak into the house.

At least we're both as bad as each other, though I sometimes wish one of us was tidy.

um.. what about tap/die sets? facing tools? micrometers? snap guages, sockets sets, torx sets, torque wrenches, allen sockets, etc??

The few bits you're describing are what travel in my camel pack, in the little pocket next to the water bladder.... They're certainly not enough to keep a few bikes alive.. .. or am I wrong?

Nowt wrong with having the tools...but i wouldnt keep them in the house, even if the wife'd let me.

Mines kept in my cupboard in the house (out of sight) or in the shed. Mines a largish cantilever toolbox BTW, brimming with stuff, mostly tools, but all cycle related....then there's the large box of bits in my cupboard...ooh, and the other large box in the shed

You can never have enough tools, innertubes, spare wheels, odd fitments off old bikes, saddles, chainsets, lights, brackets, pumps,,,the list is endless of oddments that i'll probably never use, but can't bring myself to throw away.

Even with a 8x6 shed and my large walk in cupboard to keep a multitude of household, cycling and gardening stuff in...the wife complained bitterly about the amount of it all....so i brought her a half shed for her gardening bits...job done

My bike tools are all out of sight in the cellar. Unfortunately there's a bike in the hall, one in the kitchen and another two in the cellar.

I think that toolkit probably constitutes grounds for divorce, let alone keeping it in the kitchen

p.s. don't suppose you've got a tool for adjusting shimano m324 pedal cones in there by any chance?

I'm shocked to hear that you are getting grief about the tool boxes.
I wouldn't have expected there would still be anyone in the house with you to complain if that's the sort of stuff you feel appropriate to store in a kitchen.

My tools used to be kept in the house till the wife got fed up with them everywhere. The perfect excuse to build a new shed with a workshop
