When you say stopped for water...
How much did you drink each time?
Most cyclists just take a mouthful or two from the bottle while riding along. You shouldn't need much at all on a 6 mile ride.

I stopped twice for water, but felt extremely bloated after it. Is there any other liquid that can be used, that isn't so bloating?

A liquid thinner than water, you mean? Liquid helium or pure alcohol might be worth a shot - both are much further down the viscosity index. Not sure how suitable either would be from a re-hydration perspective though...

(in case anyone is wondering, yes I am joking)

300ml over 6 miles, most probably wouldn't but this is the first real exercise done in 5 years or more.
Did you drink because you were thirsty, or because you thought you needed it?

Over 6 miles you aren't going to come to any harm being a little thirsty. Try sipping little and often if you are.
And you could try squash rather than water.

I probably drink 300ml over an hour, but that would be weather dependent. If I was going for a 6 mile ride, I wouldn't drink anything at all. If you sit at your desk and drink 600ml of water do you feel bloated?

I rarely carry drinks for rides shorter than 2 hours unless it's very hot. You felt bloated because you were.

How long did the 6 miles take, presumably less than half an hour or so, thus I can't imagine you needed water unless already thirsty

I personally wouldn't bother with water on a 6 mile ride.
I do drink 600ml of water on my 20 mile ride in the morning (and then repeat in the evening).

This is mainly because I do not have anything to eat or drink before I leave, and because I tend to drink small amounts each time I stop at red lights.

About 30 minutes. I did in all honesty set off before drinking or eating breakfast
You'll probably be fine next time with a bit of breakfast (including tea/coffee) inside you. Take a bottle of water if you think you might needed it, but you shouldn't need to drink much on that length ride. Then take a couple of mouthfuls each time, don't guzzle the lot! A few mouthfuls shouldn't make you feel bloated. You do need to keep hydrated when you get to longer rides, but I'm talking 30-40 miles plus (or even longer - depends on your level of fitness).
