Nice to see the egg and beans separated by the sausage... Mr Partridge would approve. However, it really should be tea in that cup.

Looks like lamb's tongue. Lambs' tongues would be better - I've had them fried in breadcrumbs, and very nice they were.

Isn't Lamb's Tongue slightly more matt textured?

Quite clearly lamb's lettuce. Sometimes known in france as raiponce (Rapunzel).

It's Lambs lettuce. I've seen it on the shunned shelf in Morrisons next to the pea shoots and bistro bollocks. Basil is altogether different and useful and tasty.

OK....I've googled "Lamb's Lettuce" for some pics and tried to recall exactly what was on my plate. Tbh I was rather more interested in the black pudding etc but it does seem to be a good match

How exciting....another to tick off my "unnecessary garnishes" checklist

I quite like it as a salad leaf. NL is the biggest producer of the stuff, so we get loads here.

Sorry but that has green on it. Green had no business being on a fried breakfast. A shame because it looks otherwise top hole.
