On holiday in Newcastle,Co Down, recently, I took a ride up into the 'Silent Valley' in the Mourne Mountains. According to my Bryton, I climbed to 1321 feet in just under 9 miles. It was a beautifully scenic ride with no especially severe sections and a fantastic downhill run to Kilkeel. Highly recommended.
Crawleyside Bank from Stanhope is always worth a mention for its 200 meter drag.
It is arguably a more scenic 300 meter climb the other direction across Bollihope Common.
Yep, the Mourne Mountains is certainly worth doing.
