BSA for £1.70

Bought this BSA (regency?..) On the bay just round the corner for less than 2 squid! The guy who owned it had, had it handed down to him from his grandad & knows it to have been their family for at least 40 years...its got a steerer lock and appears to have original paint. I think the brakes have been updated from a rod system & I think it would possibly had a full chaincase. Serial no. on rear dropout is (i think) N23156 ..any BSA experts confirm model & age?

Its a BSA Recency from the late 50's. And yes it would of originally had rod brakes.

All working fine too...Apart from needing some new inner tubes (I've got a couple of repaired old ones) & a good clean...
I need another bike like another hole in my a*se, but i cant resist when they go for peanut prices ...I suppose it's a shame there's no value attached to these quality old machines (& I was quite embarrassed handing over the small change)
I did them a favour tho, said it saved them taking it to the tip.. Ha

I think this would look really cool converted into a fixie, 700c wheels, racing bars and stem, brooks racing saddle. Just an idea.

I wouldn't wrap them just put grips on the ends
by the way you are on my wifes hate list as I mentioned building a bike for those bars

I like the bars but not keen on the colour, would look better in chrome i think.

Think the colour is why they're cheap.. Should just wire wool off, for a dull silver finish ..or full wrap them in black tape... & deffo no hoods!!

They're probably anodised but fine wet 'n' dry and metal polish should shift that. Worth having a punt at that price though.
