looking do a new bike on the C2W scheme.

Have £1k to spend. Looking for something as light as possible. I weigh 65kg so I'd like a bike to be the lowest percentage of my body weight as possible.

Bike won't actually be ridden to work daily so doesn't need mudguards, rack, etc

Just after a light speedy road bike to take out for rides on the weekend (plus very occasional ride to work - ahem).

I'm guessing carbon is the way to go but appreciate your advice.

This is the. Company I have to use

For that budget, better getting a bike with a decent group set than a carbon frame with basic components.

I echo the above. The Alu frames around the £1k bike mark are actually rather good in fairness. I bet they are as light as most carbon frames at that price be point.

Your link doesn’t say where you can buy bikes?

Go to those retailers locally (it would help if you say where you live), test ride a few bikes in your budget and get the one you like most

Also check your schemes rules about the expected proportion it should be used for commuting

There are 97 pages of shops!! Which ones are local? I'm presuming you're test riding and buying in store, not online? As you don't have a shortlist from your own research

Maybe start by googling lightest roadbike for £1000 or similar?

Im in east yorks. I can commute to any shop in the area.
So which ones in the list are close? It asks for a postcode. I don't know what towns are in E Yorks if honest

First suggestion, Trek Emonda if you want a racebike? £1000 gets Tiagra. Or are you wanting something more relaxed for 100k rides say? More info needed. There are probably 100 or more bikes in your price range

This looks a v good spec if set on carbon, but you'll need to pay a hundred quid admin fee on top with Cycle to work voucher

Not local either

Otherwise Dolan, Ribble, PX all do good value carbon bikes (but again they charge a fee on top for C2W, as do some other retailers, also not all will take C2W on reduced bikes, they may add a fee or put the price back to RRP)
