Chatting to my 13 year old son he's doing D of E.

Using schools force ten tents poor souls 😳🤣 8kg each shared between 3 inner / outer / poles.

He's a rugby unit so carrying much more than the other walkers! 👍

The correct way is to go lightweight and carry everything on the bike and camp en-route. Currently have everything ready to go except bike fitness. 😖 Anybody fancy trying it look up dirt dash on YouTube and some guy called Markus Stitz.

Looking to get an EHU for my next trip, to make it worthwhile (its for eBikes initially) I'm looking to get a powered cooler and cooker.

The cooker am I missing a trick or can I just buy something like this Lewis's Hotplate Double 2500W - White. Its £15 compare to over £100 for some camping specific solutions. Its a UK plug and from a trusted retailer so I assume it'd be ok?

2.5kw is quite a big load assuming you used both rings at the same time. I know my mate uses one when camping and caravaning but most sites limit you to 16amp max. Try and find a lower wattage one.

Sooner have a gas stove, i've got an old 'Epigas' one (takes Colman cylinders with a screw top) cooker is on a pipe with the control on the top of the bottle so no burning fingers if something boils over

See I knew there was something I wouldn't be thinking. I've found single/double stoves now designed for camping and less than 1500w for upto 2 rings. Also more reasonably priced at £20-35 rather than the first few I saw.

Double stove MKT-200 UK £34
MESTIC Single stove MKT-120 UK £20

I have several gas stoves, but if I'm paying for the EHU for the bikes I figured I may as well look at some other things. Not looking to go overboard though.

16A @ 230V is nearly 3.7kW.

Is that good or bad relative to what I initially posted? I checked back on the site and their info just says "EHU" with no mention of restrictions.

Some sites are 16A, some only 10A. We used a EHU for camping and was a really good addition - electric coolbox, tent lighting, phone charging etc. When we upgraded to a caravan we always went to sites with EHU and rarely used any gas.
