I think you are incorrect there, ducking around yes but drifting no, name me 2 affordable RWD cars available to teenagers?

If it doesn't have to be new, then: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-de...on=Manual&advertising-location=at_cars&page=1

Teenager with £3.5K. then to be able to insure it, seriously?

Also they are of no use unless you spend a lot of money disabling the nanny aids, you can't simply just cut them out they drop into limp mode.

Plenty of teenagers, have indulgent parents and/or grandparents.

Certainly I know personally at least three teenagers (two are my granddaughters) who are driving around in new cars, provided by parents of course, and they have not even left full time education yet. They are not rear wheel drive ( 2 * mini ; 1 * Kia).

Not an expert in when traction control etc etc became standard fit, bit, perhaps an oldster as in the link, would be before such things?

But... it is not really important is it?

Talking of indulgent parents I gave my daughter a drifting and car control lesson for her 18th. It was run by ex police instructors on a course covered in oil so you did not have to have loads of HP to make the car drift.
Well she took everyone by surprise, after a hour the guy got out and let her carry on by herself. The other instructor says he has never done that!
She managed to overheat that car so they gave her another more powerful, she managed the same so they then gave her another one.

Initially she was full of oh i must do it properly without the oil etc but lost interest by the next day then went onto to more exciting stuff , ie skiing, wing walking and free fall parachuting.

Yes, I think I may have made a problem for one of my daughters, bought her daughter (ie my grand-daughter) two hours driving lesson (on a private track), for her 15th birthday. Grand-daughter loved it, so, come her 17th, I can see scar being wanted. ;)

Many Beemers have a button on the dashboard that disables traction control after a long press.

EDIT - apparently not fully, see below!

They don't switch it off fully, they also drop into limp mode when you weld the diff up, that's why the price of pre 2000 BMW has increased as they are getting scarce, so many have rusted away the rest are crushed against the barriers.

There are lots of affordable RWD classics around (Midgets, early Escorts etc). Bit of a minefield at that age of course!
A few years ago there were a few appaling/cheap RWD hatchbacks and saloons being made. With crap rear tyres they could be rather fun. Not sure if anything like that is still made.
(what was the point of this nostalgic diversion?? )
Have you tried to buy a half-decent RWD Escort lately?
