Do you seal all the vent holes in the car up as well when using the silica, this is the UK it gets damp and cold which help create condensation. There is no magic cure if your car is left outside at night apart from waiting for the heater to do it's job, I really cannot see a problem with doing this. Having said that a large sack of custard powder in the boot is supposed to help.

As I mentioned its overnight in certain conditions. Its fine while driving as I know how to use the ac system. I just want to avoid overnight condensation that occurs from time to time in the winter months.
Mrs B's Tiguan and my previous Golf both suffered in winter, but it was noticeable last winter my Golf's condensation was noticably thicker water droplets. Traced to a damp carpet as a result leaking door seal.
An alternative, albeit more expensive, is go electric or hybrid and have the car warmed up for your expected departure time.:becool:

This was a bit of a trend in the late 80s, early 90s when stone chips etc first became an MOT fail.

Another vote for Ford's Quickclear windscreen.

It's almost worth choosing a Ford just to get one.

The patent situation is interesting.

There's no patent on heated rear screens, and a Google suggests Ford's patent on windscreens expired a few years ago.

Heated windscreens are, apparently, available on Minis, Range Rovers, and some VW Group cars.
