Carefull Cycling in Higher Broughton (Salford)

Not sure if this is in the correct section but thought I'd put it out there for Local Cyclist.

A cyclist was attacked for his bike last weekend while cycling on Bury New Rd on the corner of Great Clewes street West (corner near McDonalds) about 10 youths tried to force him from his bike to steal it. Also reports from GM police that this same gang have been targeting motorists by opening doors to steal items kept in the car.

Or like we used to do in NI, glue slithers of razor blade to the muzzle of our rifles...

Yikes!

It has been 30 years since I lived near there, but it sounds like it hasn't improved much ... My experiences. I'm sure that there are some wonderful people living in Salford, but there were enough dodgy ones to make me feel unsafe wandering about there after dark!

I was parked outside one of those tower blocks in Salford and had recently read your reminiscences. My eye wandered idly down the row of windows until it reached the ground where I realised there was a huge crater in the concrete slabs, exactly where a TV or anything else falling at terminal velocity would have impacted.
