A house up the road from me, which I would guess has a market value of around £200K-£250K, has a brand new BMW M3 (£51K) parked outside and the same goes for a few other houses in the area i.e. the cost of the car parked on the drive is equivalent to around 20-25% of the value of the house. Isn't that a little excessive?

I've just worked mine out and my car is worth 2.9% of my house. ;)

Are you suggesting I get a more expensive car? ;)

If he wasn't, I am. Don't let the neighbourhood down FFS.

However, all is forgiven if you can confirm that your bike is worth at least 4 times the car

I've never understood it. People are prepared to spend over the odds for a car, yet live in comparatively cramped conditions. I'd prefer to put the money into a bigger house. And cycle.

[this sounds like a question from GCSE maths]
3 of my bikes are each worth the same as my car, which is worth about 1.6% of the value of my house.

That's fine ;)

I own 3 cars, (ducks to avoid various missiles) anyway the total of all 3 is roughly 50% of the value of my road bike

Can you get bikes that cost £40,000? ;)
