Nah it wouldn't, it'd just cost you some time.

Audacity from Sourceforge is decent enough and free. A jack lead from the headphone on the deck to the mic on a laptop or PC is the only hardware needed. then it's just a simple case of pressing play and record :okay:
I,ll give it try soon

I'm not a huge fan of this tape deck, but it's the only working one i've got.

I've got one of these beauties in the bottom of my wardrobe, along with the matching amp...

A proper deck with proper meters and proper buttons... and an unusual cassette slot. Just needs a refurb.

MiniDisc and Cassettes. You're clearly not a person to fix a thing that isn't broken

The 53 plate Fiat Punto I’ve recently disposes of had a cassette player in it.
Never used it!

I've got a Marrantz deck. Last year I had the urge to play a cassette, so popped one in and pressed the play button. Nothing happened. Delving into the insides revealed that the drive belt, whilst being in position, had disintegrated into a drive belt shaped piece of black gunge. I ordered a new one and spent a several of hours fitting it (much disassembly was needed, as bits were under other bits which were joined to yet other bits). I only had a few screws left over at the end and it sort of works. I've played approximately one tape on it since.

Time well spent. Well done!

still got quite a few albums on MD and no other format... it gets used more than the tape deck.

[edit]... i've also got the 8 track player from the Mk II Escort my dad had in the 70s... no idea how to wire it up though.

This is the Technics tape deck I use, performance wise I find it pretty good.

I had an RX BX 626 MkII which was give 5 stars by Ho Fi Choice. I sold it when I realised I hadn't used it for about 5 years and had no tapes.

I then bought a car with only a cassette deck, so I bought some at a car boot sale, because I had a tape player and no tapes.

Then the car was written off.

Then I saw my current cassette deck along with the matching tuner in a charity shop for £9.99 the pair, so I bought it, because, well, I had tapes and not tape player.

All you need now is a new (old) car.
Is it one of those fancy ones that turns the cassette around automatically when one side stops playing? I though that was really cool when I first saw it!
No mine is one of the less expensive models.
I have an auto turn around unit in the loft, but I think that is a Sony, but aesthetically the Sony doesn't fit. (OCD ;))
