Weird "converter" stuff going on - wonder if you have the cable the wrong side of the peg ("converter" )?

Thanks for this mate - on the face of it, this "converter" doesn't seem to do very much.
Between the ON and OFF positions, there's a couple of mm difference at the most..
Looks like the way the cable was routed in my original photo was correct after all [?]. No idea.

A few years ago I adjusted my 105 5800 front mech cable at home and it shifted fine, but first time I went to shift to big ring outdoors, no dice. So I got off bike, loosened cable clamp a fraction; pushed mech towards big ring a bit; pulled bit of cable through and tightened. Been fine ever since!

I did try it, but there's no way to securely clamp the cable in place, taking the red line route.

The way that groove is angled, the intuitive way to route the cable is how I've got it in the original photo. Happy to be proven wrong though.

I tried to route it like this, while still using the groove. It seemed very unnatural, insecure and added strain in the bend.

The screw is missing with washer, that is why, where the screw thread is. The pin underneath usually falls out without that screw. Probably being held in with crud. Edit. Sorry, just realise there is another post, I had`nt refresh my browser. Roubaixtuesday is bang on.

It's called 'sorted' in Manc land

So in Manc you'd say "...but first time I went to shift to big ring outdoors, no sorted..."?

This thread's getting confusing.

So in Manc it would be "...but first time I went to shift to big ring outdoors, no problem, Sorted." ?

But, that's the complete opposite meaning of what @N0bodyOfTheGoat said in post #33, right?

I'm even more confused.

im getting confused but wasnt the poster saying he made the adjustment and it was OK.

But no dice means 'nope' effectively.

Anyway have you fixed that grubby bike yet ?
