Chainsaw and woodchipper noise from my neighbour

Read back a bit. I then quoted a post, which as far as noise measurement goes is as valid a method in Australia as here, which was corrected in the next post. Prior to your post.

It's there in the quoted post, which you mentioned.
But it's not in the 2 posts by the OP. So the OP never mentioned it.

The OP hasn't been back to make a comment since Cup Day. I suspect the neighbour finished what (s)h was doing and stopped.

(Or the OP found the noise here more annoying than the noise in his garden)

In fact, ironically it comes across as controlling in itself.

please clarify, or delete the insult

Irony alert.

OK I fess up - I'll try to join an existing thread if possible, rather than starting a new one.

Thanks for all your advice on noise measurements and sorry for any confusion.
Have you checked your council's website. Mine has detailed instructions on how to complain about noise, starting with talking to your neighbour then keeping a diary (which has no column for dB) and talking to your neighbour again before sending that diary to the council.

I am not seeing any benefit in a dB in making an initial complaint.
