Despite the fact that this thread is an obvious wind-up, I don't understand why anyone in their right mind would use bar tape of any other colour than black.

If it bothers you, you can always spray it with Cif bath cleaner and scrub it with a nail brush. It works amazingly well, if you can be arsed. I let mine go a tasteful shade of increasingly dark mank.

My mobile still has the film on. I think the idea is that the screen doesn't get gouged up quite as quickly.

An old toothbrush and toothpaste is surprisingly effective for degriming bar tape.

Tomorrow a car I have owned from new for more than 10 years is being picked up by its new owner (assuming his flight is ok). The car still has the plastic film covering on the door trims. I think that makes me sadder than the OP.

When I was about 20, I did this at a function in the ladies loo. Boss's wife was first to use the loo. I will never do that again!!!
