Cold Feet

A large pair of socks over the shoes before the overshoe goes on worked well when I used to do longer winter rides.

I have the normal version rather than the arctics, and they were a complete revelation. I really struggled last winter with cold toes and tried everything - cardboard insoles, toe covers AND overshoes, more socks, less socks, etc.

Now I have the northwave celsius gtx - and with a couple of pairs of decent merino socks (I went for a slightly larger size to fit) my toes are super toasty!

+1 for the Specialized Defroster boots. They are brilliant at keeping feet warm in even the coldest of temperatures. Well worth the money.

Tried em, still needed overshoes with them but then i have said on a number f threads about my cack circulation.

Blimey. For me they are too warm. I only wear them when temps are in the minus otherwise my feet get too warm.

Lidl have some excellent thick socks for the cold weather.

You mean the black sorta soft woolly ones?
I have about ten pairs i got last winter. Cheap and very good.
If i need more warmth i wear a pair of thin cycling socks underneath, the sort i once thought fashionable but then decided that they are near useless in any weather. And overpriced. They are good as liners though.
After that, it's neoprene overshoes.

I managed to 'snap' the pull bit on both zips ! (mended / bodged with the 'ring' bit of a key ring slipped into the gap ) - for expensive - well 1/2 price black Friday bargain a few years back - boots a cheap component ! - as others noted ~ warm boots & feet first, overshoes, merino socks - I also found a pair of Aldi/Lidl?wool / silk ski socks helped - nothing is perfect though = 100% better than previous

They had some disposable footwarmers and handwarmers in Lidl on friday when i was in.

One of the first audaxes I ever did was the Windrush Winter Warm-up, and it was a particularly cold winter. Having size 14 plates of meat, I had always found it difficuIt finding footwear. I did it wearing trainers, and I was just about the only one with no overshoes.

By the time I got to the second control I had no feeling left at all in my feet. They had an electric hand dryer in the loos, though, and I managed to contort myself enough to lift each foot up in turn to give it a quick thawing. Looked like Basil Fawlty in the process, though.

Same on mine, I can still wear them as the Velcro holds but they're not as snug as before hence the purchase of the Spesh pair.

Shimano winter boots for me. Sized one up from normal cycling shoes to allow for thicker socks. Toasty warm and the only way I can keep my feet warm when cycling in winter (no combo of overshoes / thick socks comes close - and I do suffer with cold hands and feet).

Mine are the gore-tex version and have seen me through the last 5 winters. Will be replaced at Xmas with the new pair that I don't know about, despite ordering them last month when on sale and passing straight to the wife

Wooli bollie sox and planet x overshoes should be your first and cheapest solution.
Last year for some reason I couldn't get my butt warm ! so invested a staggering £100 in some DHB deep winter bib tights - these are stupidly warm - in fact so warm I hardly ever wear them - I don't think wiggle make them any more - but if you absolutely want a solution those would be it.
Personally funkier winter bibs at around £50-60 are a better choice.

I always get cold hands and feet, but finally got the feet sorted with North Wave arctic boots and some alpaca wool walking socks. Not tried the socks in the rain though

They are a bugger to get on and off , in fact its easier to put them on before your shoes and then roll them back down .
Knowing the OP though he will probably fashion something like them out of an old pair of rubber gloves Its the same material so should work
