As an aside, personally I wouldn't have filtered down the left of the bus at the start but waited behind it for the lights to change.
+1

Deffo looked like an RLJ from the bus!

She's lucky she didn't go under the back wheels!

Both will learn a lesson hopefully there, luckily a not too painfull one!
The bus driver then walks back to the incident on the road, I'm amazed know-one had the sense afterwards to ask everyone to get onto the island rather than have the discussion on the road edge with cars still whizzing around.

I'd have reported that bus driver to the police for the red light.

Did she get the driver's details, bus reg?

GC
Not sure tbh, there were two bus drivers there and a paramedic guy (or at least first aid trained, don't remember exactly)

I should have given her my details... I can dig the reg out if need be but she said again and agian that it was her fault so i didn't feel the need to push with what i would do (report the driver etc.)

This was a tricky one... She was too far forward AND didn't look right. This is a deal breaker for me and implicates her, red light jump or not.

However the driver definitely jumped a red... and by some distance at that.

Yes normally i wouldn't have bothered but i know the sequence (isn't that what they all say?) and saw that at the time the left side of traffic was still moving so i had time....

Yes it looked like you knew what you were doing. I know things are different when you know junctions and light sequences really well - a bit tight for me perhaps!

Hope she goes off to A&E just in case. I guess you might get called as a witness. (It may have cropped up in the vid but I don't have sound here at work so missed any dialogue).

Go me! I was on the island xD but it was cobbled at an angle too, not sure if you can see in the video... wasn't too secure in road shoes!

The only relevant dialog was me talking to the other bus driver (not involved) at the end, i ask if they need footage because i have it... he says his bus has it and something about defending the other driver if she tries to claim!!! as if the other driver was totally innocent.

Your right. By what the OP has said, it is possible that she did suffer minor injury (bruising) and also damage to her bike. Because of the injury to her person it should be reported. As for the other damage, let the insurance company sort it out.

Quite! but someone else here has mentioned that bus drivers are taught not to stop on a dime, however i believe from my position he would have had plenty of time to stop for the red, considering how late he was.

It is the responsibility of the driver and the cyclist to report it. I guess once the driver gets back to base and reports the incident to his superiors an official routine will kick into action with a formal interview for the driver and a report to the police as a matter of course. I don't think any one else present has the right or the duty to pass judgement on the possible RLJ by the bus (I'm not convinced there was anything untoward or out of the ordinary about the passage of the bus) and start making spurious accusations to the police. The reality is she took off too sharpish without checking she had a clear route first.

Scares me every time I watch it.

The lady cyclist was very fortunate not to go into the rear wheel arch (watch the slo-mo).

I wonder if her positioning so far in front of the ASL was because she had been crossing in the previous sequence of lights but was not quick enough to get all the way over, so had stopped where she did. This would have been a good, safe action.

However, there is no traffic light at her place - she was using the one on the far side of the road. Not doing a further check in case something was coming after the light went green was a major contributing factor. The need for this double check became more essential with her advanced positioning.

I would also agree that the bus was past its 'point of no stopping'.

A scary, lessons-to-be-learnt incident - but I wouldn't think either was specifically to 'blame'.

Just very relieved no serious injury (nor bike damage ) resulted.

If i should report it, how would i go about that?

Head to your local police office and tell them you witnessed a coach drive through a junction across traffic which already had a green light and that said bus knocked a cyclist off her bike. Give them a copy of the uncut footage and the reg no of the bus.

People in charge of vehicles that size need to be held to exacting standards of driving.

Yes again I agree, it is the responsibility of the driver and the cyclist to report the incident.

I do believe there are other mechanisms around the country for reporting incidents i.e roadsafe. Not something I would do as a matter of course, but would certainly consider it in certain circumstances.
