commuter jeans.....

I've just read a review in a magazine (standing in tescos seeing if the mag was worth buying. it wasn't by the way) on commuter jeans. Is it me or are these way over priced as there wasn't a pair under £60 and the dearest were a £140. If I ever spend more than £30 on jeans (and I begrudge even that) they wouldn't even go near my shed let alone a bike were they might get grease on them. I will stick to my cycling gear thanks

Sorry rant over but does anyone agree with me and think they seem an incredible waste of money or have you got a pair and they are brilliant.. I am genuinely intrigued.

Hipster b*llshit, I'd imagine. What are commuter jeans and why are they different to normal jeans (which suck for cycling in, btw)?

apparently they have more give in them (ie bit of lycra in them) and reflective bits on the bottom or inside when you turn them up. and yep you're right normal jeans are rubbish to cycle in

There was a long random discussion started by some youngster a while back about some Levis ones - they were £60 or something, don't know if he ever bought them (now he actually owns a bike)

I suppose they make sense if you want to ride to work / school in a pair of jeans in comfort and not need to change

I have a pair of Uniqlo skinny fit jeans (with lycra) that I occasionally ride in. Longest ride has been a round trip of 24 miles. Comfy. No seam problems either. Swrve jeans are highly rated by those who own them too.

H+M have just agreed a contract to start selling budget casual cycle clothing. Might be worth a look if you wanted some.

That might have been me, and if THIS is the thread you're referencing then I'm charmed that you think I'm a youngster
