You ask your wife to wear a tiny microphone, disguised as jewellery, on her ankle. This picks up the noise signal of her clicky heals. The data is transmitted by a low power radio link to an anti-sound generator concealed in her clutch bag which generates the same noise signal, but exactly out of phase, thereby greatly reducing the noise.

The economy version would have both pieces of equipment duct-taped to her leg.

Why not talk to your local heel bar man? The 1cm2 area of a stiletto exerts a huge pressure and carries a lot of weight especially while walking so a DIY bodge is risking a wardrobe malfunction or a sprained ankle.

But yes, stilettos are a powerful thing. I used to have a Spanish agent who wore them and walking around town with her I couldn't help noticing the attention they attracted, mostly from men.

She doesn't wear Stilletos for this exact reason, but finds the sound from normal heels irritating as well...

I'm thinking in that direction although I'm not sure how I'd get it iff the heels after I've made the mould...
I've used Sugru in a few applications and it's quite easy to remove and found it cleans up pretty easily. I used it to increase the size of the brifter gear paddles to give a bit more contact area when using gloves. Found that it was easy to remove and clean up with a bit of white spirit.

As someone that is just naturally adept at problem solving I find this one so simple and obvious that I do question the mental ability of anyone that has not already seen the solution.
Carefully cut the heels off with a decent quality bread knife. Then glue the heels to the FRONT of the shoes and stick some sort of gungy sticky type stuff where the heels used to be......so that the heel (now at the front) now make contact AFTER the sticky gungy type stuff and dont 'click' so loudly.
She may have to practice a bit to get the hang but all brilliant ideas are worth some effort.
Everyone knows of the emperors new clothes.......anyone who cannot see my brilliance in this idea must be somewhat lacking in ingenuity type stuff.

Perhaps some heat shrink tubing, cut and folded under - then heated to form to the heel shape.

I've thought of doing that, but was unsure if it'd work ... brill, I'll give it a try! Thanks!!!!
