Ah, but it's not just glue. It can also be used to build up shoe soles. It dries to a rubbery type of stuff.

I only ever had the problem once -at an interview - now I wear flats if I need to be quiet. I quite like the noise a heel makes.

A friend of mine is a broadcast sound recordist and employs a variety of methods to quieten the heels of the actors he's recording. Easy way is to put down a length of carpet, failing that, sticking something like the pads above to the heels. No idea how long they stay on for... he only needs a minute or so.
