I recently purchased a bike for £600 through a well known bike shop chain. After the test ride the gears were jumping so I asked for this to be fixed before purchasing. No problem said the assistant, so of he took the bike to the workshop while I sorted out the paperwork. 10 minutes later I had a new bike.
The first ride and the gears were rubbing constantly. A teething problem I thought so back to the shop the next day to be fixed. Once getting the bike back it was a week or so before I managed to get out on it again. When I did manage a ride the gears were still rubbing but not quite as bad (and a spoke came totally loose)so I thought I'd persevere until the 6 week service.
Got it in for the service and explained my problems. Your bike will be ready in a few day a sir. Once again on getting back I took it for a 10 mile ride. Gears jumping galore. Fed up with such a crap service I tinkered with it myself and have it booked in to the local bike shop hopefully for a better service.
I emailed customer services of the well known chain and the reply was laughable. The email wasn't much different to this rant and in no way nasty. "Sorry to hear about the issues with your bike. Hope you are able to get it sorted. "
I think it's safe to say I will not be spending another penny with this chain!
Sorry about the rant.
