I wonder what the costs would be if they factored in the labour charges ?

To be fair, they did start including the number of hours labour put in. Given that (quick Google) an independent garage will charge £50/hr for labour and the average on Wheeler Dealers was 40 hours, very few of their projects would have made a profit had someone tried to do it for real.

Also found this - https://www.motoringbox.com/cars/en...-edd-china-ran-wheeler-dealers-as-a-business/

In their first year, Mike and Edd purchased and fixed up a total of 6 cars, spending a total of £6,232 in the process. They then managed to sell all 6 cars on to receive a total of £7,750. That’s an overall profit of just £1,518, and things didn’t get much better from there.

In their second year, Mike and Edd flipped an additional 6 vehicles – only the overall profit dropped to £956.50. The third year, after completing their 18th car in total, they made just £203. If they were attempting to run Wheeler Dealers as a business of any form, the writing would have well and truly been on the wall at this point.

I like Ed and Ant. I think Mike plays the role of a wheeler dealer well, Del Boy type of character if you like.
I watched the video of Ed explaining the break up of the partnership and also the video of Mike bad mouthing Ed and I didn't like what Mike had to say. If anyone is entitle to feel like a TV star that is the mechanic on both partnerships, without them there's no TV programme.

Ant was already a well established TV car personality before Mike got hold of him, so maybe Brewer will have a harder time trying to impose his will, and maybe Ant will be better able to resist thumping him.

Ant was in a programme with an actor before, I can't remember the name of the programme or actor. I remember that Ant cut the whole front end off an Escort Mexico, he also fitted a second hand roof to it . I can't remember them using or even mentioning the use of a jig .

Please sir, can I be excused.
Am I the only person on planet CC that has never watched that prog' ??
Am I missing something good or cr*p?

It is pretty good, particularly when they do a car that you have owned or have an interest in. The cockney what buys the car and then sells them at the end is the annoying bit. They guys with the spanners, be it Edd or Ant, is great viewing.

I love it when Discovery or Quest have a Wheeler Dealers day, 12 or 14 episodes back to back!

Oh I've actually seen this. I thought it was fairly innocuous stuff, never realized there was intrigue and strong feelings about it. Please don't tell me there's more to Shed and Buried than gentle entertainment.

I have owned some of the cars worked on and I feel they gloss over some common faults people should really look out for. Also do they always do the work themselves? I heard a story that eg a Citroen van turned into a camper was actually done by a specialist in these particular conversions tho’ allegedly done by them.

I can't get the latest series since we reduced our tv package with Virgin, but I liked the workshop bits but not Brewer's Del Boy act. Same deal with Car SOS; I like the stuff with Fuzz, can't stand Tim Shaw and his set up scenes where he tries to blag free bits. Both shows suffer from dumbing down the mechanical stuff in favour of less detail and to appeal to a wider audience.

I hope they give Edd his own show. He's very talented and I like seeing him squash into old cars or just standing next to someone small like Brewer so they look like Hagrid and Harry Potter.

The other Ant show was For the Love of Cars, with Philip Glenister.

I quite like Flipping Bangers, with the ginger Wolverine bloke, and his mate who looks like he should be on a Guess Who? game board. For some reason they always seem surprised when a 20 year old Lancia is rotten underneath though.
