After much gnawing of teeth and deliberation i decided that my new C2W voucher would be spent on a Synapse 6 105 , I'm built for comfort not speed and the Caad8 just felt a little cramped for my mis proportioned body

Now the deal killer ..... The 2014 model only comes with disc brakes !!! , it felt so heavy on the front end

One of the other bikes that was in consideration was the Domane 2.3 , again for the same fit reason over the Madone so it looks like its now been promoted to number one spot as long as I can get the Black / White version .

What are Cannondale thinking by not offering the Synapse in std brake version ???

Rant over now.....

I really liked the thought of the new Synapse 2014 with disc, a really good all rounder bike. I haven't had a chance to see one yet, I'd there really a big difference in weight? At the price Cannondale are asking for the 105 I'm assuming they're a pretty basic(heavy!)disc.

Cannondale probably fit disks rather than outdated rim brakes because they have more stopping power.I can't imagine it will be too long before all bikes, whether they are supermarket cheapies or Tour de France racers, will have some form of disk brake fitted.

Maybe in the future all bikes will be disc equipped , but for now it's not an option I want.

It's just a shame in my opinion that Cannondale could not offer the bike in both options.

The plan I had was to purchase another set of wheels after the winter for the summer but by going down the disc route I think it would limit my upgrade options as well as having to purchase additional discs etc.

The 2013 model would have to have a huge discount to offset the savings given by C2W , and i cant see any LBS doing that as well as 0%

My rim brakes can lock the wheels if I wanted them to , don't think you can get any better than that:smile:

Have you confirmed how much you'll save and also what the end payment is? Not all schemes are the same

Just said it may be worth a hunt around  Discounts on C'Dale here for example http://www.pedalon.co.uk/acatalog/cannondale_road_bikes.html

On a. £1000 C2W I will end up paying back approx £600 over 18 months with a £35 final payment.

I have the choice of using the Halfords scheme ( ( 10 % discount ) or the Cycle Plus scheme (5 % discount) so in that respect I am spoilt for choice

Don't get me wrong , your suggestions are appreciated . , its just my annoyance at Cannondales decision not to offer a non disc option

Ditto and im not what you can describe as svelte ;) , I can see the benefit of discs on a Mountain bike when your up to your hubs in mud or if you buckle a rim.

On a Road bike I think it's more of a marketing gimmick
