Lots of advice when looking to buy is to try out as many different bikes as possible. But how to get this experience when so few shops seem to offer demos? 
In Glasgow of the big dealers only Alpine Bikes offers demos: and at this time of year had only one road bike available to try. The other dealers will let you try a bike for ~20 mins before purchase- better than nothing, but hardly enough for an in-depth assessment. LBS don't seem to do any better.
