Speaking to a mate today at work, he just decided to update his kitchen, the leccy spent 3 days making it safe - he's been living there about 6 years... lights fitted with no earth...

If an all insulated system then feasible to be like that. Would be a code 3 on an EICR requires improvement .

Wouldn't install it now but it's not " unsafe" until you start to put metal fittings that require an earth up.

Double insulated fittings and plastic switches fine. My dads is the same ,
