As the title says really.
I enjoy driving and have found that I often just go out for the sake of it.
I know most people wont have the time or money to just go for a drive, but does anyone still do it?

When I was younger, yes. But in someone else's car, I couldn't drive at that stage. Driving for miles, playing music and singing our heads off.

Never. I used to a long time ago and when I was really into motorbikes I'd spend a lot of my free time riding around the country just for fun.
These days I go out on my bike for fun, I don't get as far, but it's more fun than the motorbike.

Thats because its new to you. The novelty will wear off soon. Just like it does when you buy a new bike and you start to want a new one.

Not any more no.

I used to do it a lot and did a tour of europe 6 odd year's ago which was brilliant.

I used to have nice motors and often go out early doors on a weekend for a blast.

Pointless these days with traffic, family etc

Freedom comes ffrom cycling these days.

I did when I was your age Matthew, but when your job involves driving, many miles of which are in a HGV you really don't see the attraction anymore.

Yes, quite often actually. I have 2 types of 'just go for a drive' one is practicing road craft done to help keep my skills up to standard. The other type is a more planned affair generally taking in several hot laps done at warp factor 10 on prime private or closed roads (aka. race tracks & arranged stage events). That's why I've got a close relative of the red beasty in my avatar.

No. But then I don't own a car, so unless I was to indulge in a bit of TWOCing........ In seriousness, I do have access to OH's car, but resent paying squillions for fuel for essential journeys, not going to start paying through the nose to go joy riding.

I used to "go for a drive" when I was younger, but in those days you could drive to Barnsley, Have ten pints of John Smiths and still have change from a fiver for a pie and chips on the drive home.

waynes world, waynes world, excellent.

I'll go out for a ride or we'll take the dogs somewhere for a more scenic longer walk nowadays. I've only ever really used driving as a means to an end, its not something I enjoy particularly. I remember when I was a kid, it was a Sunday tradition to go out for a drive after dinner just to drive around. Quieter roads and less speed bumps in those halcyon days too.

No. The car is just transport these days. The only time I went for a blast in recent years was on delivery of a brand new Alfa 147 Selespeed and took if for a rag up Charlesworth round all the twisty roads I could fine. Even that was only for half an hour.

I'd rather ride my bike now, plus it's just burning fuel for which the cash could go on bike bits.
