Do you ever just go for a drive?

Driving for fun, in a Volvo estate? Seriously:rolleyes: That said, can be fun in muddy fields:smile:
Back in the good old days of free petrol and cars which were easy to work with (Mk1 Escorts/Fiestas and so forth), going for a 'cruise' was normal on Friday & Saturday nights.
Nowadays I drive a practical, gas guzzling 4x4 so fun drives are out

I had a Mk 2 harrier, followed by the RS2000 - great cars. Oh how i wish i had kept them ££££££££

I quite often just go for a drive in my E30 325 :-)
Proper car!

I love driving especially when it involves speed but over the years cars hv been associated to nothing but chores (carting the kids around, settling bills, lugging groceries) so it has lost its appeal somewhat.

Now I get my adrenaline rush from careering down steep slopes on my bike lol :girldance:

I don't get chance to go for a drive anymore due to having little ones but i suppose that is compensated by me having a 30 minute blast on the motorway each day to get to work which is traffic free as I am going from town to Coast while most who live in the coast are going into town. It is most satisfying to put my foot down when going from 30 to 70 and seeing the world going backwards.

I did many years ago, but with modern traffic levels and idiot drivers in their thousands I regard driving as a necessary evil to be avoided if at all possible. As an example last night coming back from a camera club meeting I followed a guy doing 45mph on a 60mph unlit road who slowed to 20mph whenever a vehicle came the other way. It would have helped if his brake lights worked, but they didn't! :banghead::banghead: Then once he'd turned off an oncoming car came towards me with his main beam, spots and front
I'm afraid I can remember it at 3s 11d a gallon, plus three hundredweight of Green Shield stamps.

Oh dear! I can remember filling my BSA Bantam D14-4 with petrol at just over 3s and the shot (Of two-stroke oil.) rounded it up to less than 3s 11d. No wonder some old guy I've never met looks out at me from every mirror I use!

I'm not making a new thread so decided to post this here:

A chance to ask me any question you want. I will post the response video in this thread too.

My questions:
What are we supposed to be asking questions about?
Why are you filming yourself sitting in your car?
Have you ever considered a career as a school teacher?
Will I ever get that 1 min 11 seconds back? (Forget that one, I know the answer!).

You'll 'go virus' in no time at all, Matthew...a sure-fire winner if ever there was one. My question: What was that crap on the car radio? (and I don't mean the car surrounding it!)
Good luck. (And good luck with the 'sun' roof too.)

During the winter we love to put the heater to hot, put full defrost on and drive with the top down.....people look at us silly, but theres nothing better on a frosty sunny day than driving a convertible with the roof off, it really is toasty inside with a slight breeze .............. bliss on a sunday morning after a ride

Been there - done that. Cycling beats it hands down...any day.

I love getting away from it all every few weeks, normally to north wales green laning and playing in the mud!

Heres a pic of my 1995 defender 90. Affectionately known as the "tonka toy"
