Do you usually ride the same route?

My normal door to door commute is 12 miles along the A21 in SE London.
So I have a multitude of different routes, anything up to 28 miles door to door if I fancy a change.

Evening Ian,

I hope you hit your target of getting out today after the tendon problems.

Rob.

Hi Rob.
Thanks, yes, myself and MartinT235 hit the road and knocked out the January 100 miler
I can still feel a slight pain after 2 weeks off the bike, and it's very noticeable how the fitness goes after not being on the bike for that amount of time.

Anyway I digress. I am going to look at insoles for the shoes to try raise my toes in the shoes as this seems to alleviate the problem.

Commuting, yes - well two at is, the very icy longer route and not so icy shorter.
On evening weekend rides on my roadie I take in between 27 and 50, quite often including a run down the coast from Blyth to Tynemouth, if not, it's often a loop taking in Ponteland, up by Rothbury and back around.
Odd ides also up the Tyne valley taking in Hexham/Corbridge/Derwent Water.

I have got three regular routes; 21.5, 34 & 56 miles. I ride the shorter loop the most, but am trying to mix it up a little more. In an ideal world, I would ride each one each week.

I do occasionally ride them backwards for a bit of a change.

Having ridden them plenty of times, I don't need to think about navigating and can focus more a little on speed and progress.

No, absolutely not. I'd get bored out of my mind.

I do have some favourite places that I keep coming back to, but I try to mix it up as much as possible, and I'm always on the lookout for new routes (or even little variations on an old route) to keep my interest. And I ride road and MTB, which increases my choices.

Same here - barring commuting (although to some extent I do vary the routes quite a bit).

I love picking a new route-seeing new things, new challenges. Keeps me on my toes.

I ride the same route for the commute (16 mile each way) no matter what the weather is like.

And i normally do the same 19 mile training ride. However, I do mix it up a little bit from time to time.

I think you should mix it up more than a little bit fella, given what has recently happened to you.

Blimey, that is impressive, I've tried it but kept falling off after only a couple of metres

right now it really depends what time i`ll be home from work and how much daylight i have left, i`ve got a wee route around stirling that takes me about and hour, thats been keeping me ticking over in the winter...right now the weekend cycling i could be going anywhere on central scotland, i try to judge it on how wet the roads are going to be

I am extremely fortunate in having 6 routes out from Oakham which then split still further so depending on the distance I feel like doing I could probably ride a different route every day for a month. Obviously there will be some duplication of some of the roads at some point, but really I am fortunate to live where I do which is why I offer forum rides to come and see it.
