The only time I will wear a helmet is on a track.

Very interesting indeed...and to those who said never. Would you wear one on a fast motorbike if you didnt have to?
Fast motorbike? What do you mean by fast?

If it helps, I didn't wear one taking a Harley across the Nevada desert, but that thing wouldn't go over 70, which makes it the slowest motorbike I've ever ridden but is faster than I've cycled by a fair margin.

Yep.. It's only 8 miles but just for peace of mind I wear one. Knowing my luck the day I don't, will be the day I fall off, head first into the road and only my head gets squished by a passing artic ;-)

I've been pedalling for over 40 years and have never worn a helmet.

You must be worn out!

Always on my commute, always when I ride on the roads, always when it's raining and cold.
Why?
Because my helmet keeps my hairstyle from being windswept, my head warm.
If I should bang my head on a fall I think it would help (irrational, I know).

If it's a sunny day AND I'm riding on a traffic free path, I have my helmet hanging from my rucksack.
Why?
Because I'm not going to work, don't care how my hair looks!
Should not be falling either, without black taxis pushing me into potholes. If I ever do, well, hope I land on my bum
