Does anyone actually bother with gloves?

Hi,
I normally wear finger-less gloves for cycling however I've started doing smaller journeys (to the shop, commute etc.) without any gloves. I actually find it more comfortable and less sweaty with my road bike.

How many people actually use gloves whilst cycling and what is the benefit of them?

I can manage to the shops and back but any further and the vibrations from the road kill my left wrist.

Besides, I like the brown arm / white hands effect. It makes people blink and it's interesting to see if anyone comments.

I'm the same. I carefully nurture the brown dot on the back of each hand so that people think I can afford to play golf.

Always been tempted to get some with the crochet type holes on the back to see how much extra space I get in busy shops if people think I've got something contagious.

If you stick your hands out when you fall you'll get something broken. Never stick your hands out when falling.

I'm another fan of wearing gloves regardless. it is extremely rare that I don't.

Fingerless gloves for me (full finger in the depths of winter) since my crash in 2011. Taking the skin off the palms wasn't fun and I'd rather not repeat that experience.
