Does cycling attract a disproportionate number of grumpy so and so's?

First ones - warm and stylish. I am playing Christmas carols in The centre of York tomorrow and could do with these.

My BIL is a bit of a grump. We put our decorations up a little early as I'd been stuck in hospital last year, and we got a few comments. We have deliberately bought him a Christmas jumper, and we're going to get him some "Bah humbug" ales

All these Christmas threads and the grumpy so and so's come out of the woodwork and show their true colours......

"How much for a tree????"

"I'd rather go out for a bike ride on my own on Xmas day than spend it with the relatives"

"I don't want any presents and if someone tries to give me one they can fark right off"

So, is becoming a grumpy so and so just part of getting old? (I do wonder the average age of regular CC posters). Maybe they've all been lurking waiting to explode with indignation at the sight of a November Christmas decoration.

Or maybe, just maybe....cycling attracts disproportionately grumpy participants?

Pls Note: This is a Friday afternoon "cos I'm a bit bored and let's have some banter" sort of thread. Now't too heavy, OK?

"
I was going to say yes cause it attracted me but I don't have any of those moans

Mid life crises roadies who ride very expensive bikes with faces like a fishes asrsehole are the worse, you know, the ones who cannot even be bothered to return a friendly nod.

They are total mizzoggs. Maybe when they ride along they are thinking to themselves, that they should have bought the mid life crisis sportscar instead.

The best sport is stopping to help one when they are stranded as a result of their piss poor planning and lack of a contingency plan. When you are fixing their puncture they have no option other than to engage and not be miserable. I've never seen the aftermath but would hope they'd have a smile on their face as they complete the rest of their ride.

It's a bit more complicated than that...
So, you are 27? My grandfather fought in WWI and missed Gallipoli by a stroke of near fatal luck. 4 of my uncles fought in WWII, and my great uncle was in Changi. For most of the second half of the 20th century the world stood in genuine peril of global nuclear war. And you think we live in end times now? You don't even know how lucky we are.

In the 1980s that was enitrely to do with hot nuclear escalation - it was a horrible time to be an anxious teenager. Quite a lot of the deteroriation in the last few years has been to do with failure to address global warming, which is a slow-burn problem.

I love Christmas!, my two children (4 and 9) make it a special time.

My workmates either don't have kids or they've alread grown up, and all moan about it.

For me when my two have grown up it'll probably be just "another day" but for now I'm looking forward to it.

Plus a week off work, what's not to like!

No, it comes with old age.

The average poster on CC is in their mid 60s.
