Imagine the consternation if someone from the OS schlepped to the summit and told them all to beat it while they set up their theodolite.

To be fair I think that would justify going straight to the front

I agree that the problem here is the "need" of people to have the proper selfie with just them in it

without that then the queu is no longer necessary

and people might just take a quick photo and wander around the summit and enjoy the view and everything

Instead they "have" to queue up because only one person can take the required selfie at a time

Lefty tighty. Get it righty.
You can't really knock selfie-taking unless you knock a whole load of other stuff.

Selfies are just a manifestation if our box-ticking urge. If it's not on Strava it didn't happen, Monroe bagging, twitchers, Eddington number obsessives.

A lot of us do it. We can't just go for a walk or a ride, we have to have a box to tick, we have to get to the top of something or ride a challenge distance or maintain a streak. It's natural, there's nothing wrong with it. At least, there isn't until we start trying to impose our silly rules on others.

It isn't teh selfie that causes an issue (in this particular situation), it is the desire to have a selfie with nobody else in it - so that it appears deserted apart from you.

To be honest anyone who thinks people are going to be impressed by a picture of them at the top of a mountain in the UK whether they or not they are the only ones in the picture they are so deluded they need detaining under the MHA.
