Fair question though, how do you know?? yep, you don't.
You've got to speculate to accululate, so he obviously was just trying his luck, regardless of the sign.

I don't like having cold calls (although it's the same idea as I've said above), but where we live, we don't get many door to door salespeople. I have seen these signs on people's doors before though, but all it says to me is

'A bitter twisted Jerk lives here'.

And even to a non sales person like me, I'd see the sign and go 'Ewww, I don't think I want to know them!'.
They do have their uses (as does the recycling bin), but I just find it sometime is just as rude and evasive as the salespeople, if not more.

That said, we hardly ever get anyone, partly becuase we have such a long driveway (a paper boy that I used to know many years ago joked that it took about half an hour just to get to our house!).

The long and short of it is that I took his name and his company's name, I escorted him off my property and I put a complaint in writing to his company. He hasn't called since!

And actually escorting someone off a property?? sorry, but that just says it all when all you have to do is be polite and say 'No thanks, please don't call again'.

I mean, actually complaining about someone selling something as inconsequential as fish?? that's definitely taking it a bit TOO far, seriously!! Do you really have nothing better to do??
It'd be different if it was something like double glazing, cavity insulation or similar, and they didn't leave you alone, but it's f*cking FISH, I mean get a grip!

That said, I LOVE fish, so I might have seen what he had regardless, (seeing as I always seem to miss the Pittemweem Van that comes round).

I did some knocking in an old job.

"Have you been injured or had an accident in the last three years?"

I needed the money and it turned out to be interesting. Council estates were very much focused on and the salesteams would fight for the "worst".

I might have been brainwashed but could see the point in making people aware that insurance against accidents had been taken out and if it was right then they were entitled to claim. It did take the piss a bit though, or at least some people did in signing up ridiculous stuff.

I was crap because I reckon no means no but did put forward a couple of deserving cases I think.

I'd not have knocked on Xmisters door.

Politeness costs nothing*, he doesn't have to actually escort people off the property when all they are doing is their job.

* - although I will be rude to people who I see as being rude, this I have no qualms about.

I don't think Xmisters sign is rude and if I'd put one up I'd reckon someone was rude for ignoring it, but I wouldn't put one up.

I don't think the sign is rude at all. A lot of people (me included) don't want to be disturbed by unannounced callers. For some people, it's a matter of security. I live in a city centre, and frankly, if my doorbell went in the evening and I wasn't expecting anyone, I'd be wary of answering it - I can't see the door from the flat, so I've no idea who's there. And I'm never going to buy something on spec from a salesman. If I want something I go out and buy it, when I want, not when it's offered randomly to me.

And who said XMisterIS was rude at all? It's possible to turn someone down and get them to leave without being rude. He has every right on his own property.

But I'm not the one putting up little signs that basically says 'Meeehhhh!!! I don't like you, go away'.

Any tips on getting rid of Safestyle double glazing ... it doesn't matter how rude I am to them they phone up every few months ... I've told them I've already had the work done by another company (which I did) and that even if my windows were falling out I wouldn't call them etc. That they were rude, had an inferior product etc ... asked to remove my name from their list ... and still they phone up. They just offer to send someone else and check if there are any other windows they can do.... I'm tearing out my hair with them.. (still they phoned last week so I should have another couple of months of peace before the next call).

Tell them you have registered with the TPS (Telephone Preference Service) they will be very quick to end the call. And you could also actually register. It can be done on the Net. Takes about a month to kick in and you should never get pesky sales calls again.

There is also a mail version of TPS but I don't know about a door step salesperson version.

I'm registed with TPS and keep getting calls from various people

I start to tell them I'm on a no call list or ask them to put me on their do not call list but they just hang up

I've had it laminated and selotaped to my front door for about a year now, and in that time I have only had one pushy, rude, arrogant, sod who I escorted off my property lovely person ring on the doorbell trying to sell me something!

I have watched people with clipboards walk up to my door, look at it, and walk away again.

It works! It fits exactly on a piece of A4 in landscape and can be laminated. (somewhere like staples will do the laminating for pennies).

I will print out a couple of hundred of those, laminate them,............and go knocking on doors to sell them. £2.50 a go..what do you reckon??
