Personally, I reserve the right to not like someone who interrupts my evening meal with an attempt to sell a product/service/religion I don't want and quite frankly do want them to go away.
Fairdos.
Just a polite 'No thanks' usually sufices - you don't live at the south pole, so I doubt your food will go stone cold in the space of about a minute

I can see your point though, don't get me wrong. It was just the whole notion of the original post that got me going about actually ESCORTING someone off a property. That's just OTT and I'm sure I wouldn't be terribly impressed when I have these things called legs and can go quite easily by myself.
Getting frogmarched off just for ringing a door bell, am I the only one who can see that that's quite frankly crazy?
There's too much hate in this world as it is.
I'm ex-directory, with a withheld number and registered with the TPS.
I very rarely get unwelcome calls now. As I have caller display I just don't answer the phone if I don't recognise the number.
Which is ok for the dialing codes cold callers use, but what about a genuinely important call from someone? and what's more, what if it's someone you know phoning you but from a new number or, heaven forbid, from a pay phone?? etc etc. (there are plenty of people out there that I know but would never recognise their number, especially those who seem to change their mobile phones more often than I have hot dinners. If I never answered any that I didn't recognise then I wouldn't ever get very far).

Yer little plan starts falling down

Ok, so I'm aware that cold callers tend to use certain dialing codes, but what about a normal person trying to contact you about something??
Anyway.
