That's Hollowtech adjusters for you.
Nobody has suggested this yet !
New Bike Time !![]()
They cannot be drilled out (too hard) the only way to get them out is 'spark erosion'.
Phew. Stick a load of waterproof/marine grease on the threads to stop this happening again. Well done...
I've got a tube of white lithium grease, is that waterproof?
Does anyone know what the spring clip is for on this barrel adjuster? Is it meant to be an alternative to the small spring of the original barrel adjuster?

Are the threads still good now you have drilled it out ?
Just about. I screwed in an M5 bolt to test it out, went in ok.
Finished off the job today...new barrel fitted (lithium greased), new gear cable fitted. Front derailleur adjusted with the help of this video.

im going to re do my commuter bike as im not happy with it , i think i need to disconnect the cable and start from the beginning as the cable is too tight even with the barrel adjuster is wound in and although the shifting works the trim point seems to be halfway up the cassette and there is way to much movement on the h stop
