The other thing I might end up doing, as a woman, is joining the Lumberjills.

Not blowing my trumpet or anything, but I am a dab hand at felling trees and then dismantling them to the size required.

But should women be put on the list as equal to men?????

I'm sure that discussion has been had in higher places (WHAT higher that cyclechat?????) but would they????

My Dad was called up in WW2 - ended up in RAF Ground Crew - his eyesight was awful without glasses - if he was in the army and lost his glasses and got scared $deity knows who he would have shot!!!

didn't work out - RAF armourer so he got to check out the shot up rear turret to clear out the ammo before someone came to clear out the 'remains' - must have been a bit 'difficult'
then a bomb casing fell out of a Halifax (I think) and hit his head - thus breaking his spine
that was in 1944 - got out of hospital in 1947 I think

I would be bugger all use - too old and asthmatic - but if you want to sail a small boat I'm all yours

or I could keep IT stuff working - or even hack stuff - if I don't get bored

My grandad only enlisted in WWII by accident.

He was a bit hard of hearing and thought he was signing up to give the nun a good licking.

Isn‘t/wasn’t the upper age restriction for a reason? Surely someone with a patriotic fuelled over estimation of their own capability is going to be a liability?
