I'd ask how a collection like this could ever be amassed but - per Occam's razor - it's probably just a simple sum of i) easy access (involved bike shop owner?) ii) funds and iii) time.

Storage too, though if you live in the sticks, maybe an empty barn (or two ! ) isn't that far away...
