hi all, as promised on another thread here is my review of a bike stand i purchased on ebay.
here is the link to the product http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150544733103?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

first off i ordered it sunday afternoon, it got posted early monday morning, i received a text to say my bike order had been shipped along with tracking info and the day of delivery ( the tuesday) on tuesday morning i received a text saying it would be delivered between 11 and 12 and it arrived at 11am on the dot.

smaller box than i expected but it all came quick and with great updates! not much protection inside but to be honest there is nothing breakable inside

after taking it out of the box you can see it comes in 4 main parts, with an allen key to assemble it (just to bolt the tray on) but it can be used to tighten the allen bolts on it if needed in the future, it came in handy as it is the correct size for my gear and brake adjustment.

picking it up and feeling the individual parts i can tell that it is surprisingly very heavy duty and high quality, it is as simple as sliding the legs out kind of like an umbrella and pushing down on the quick release ( the same as a wheel skewer) this is how the entire stand bar the tray is assembled/adjusted.
the clamp itself is decent enough, but would suit smaller top tubes or round tubes better than the aero design on my specialized but it does still clamp it very secure although it could flip undone if you lightly push up the quick release when it is under alot of pressure, but this dosent worry me, the blue plastic has a slight rubberised feel but is still very solid so i am not sure if it could scratch a frame or not, but nothing is stopping you putting a cloth around it if you have a particularly nice frame.

the stand its self is very sturdy, even when the legs are not fully extended, say you have a tight space so you can not fully extend the legs, the stand will still be sturdy enough when fastened with the bottom QR. it has feet on each leg that are moveable so mould to the environment and hold it very steady, they also feature holes to screw it into a surface, which would be a handy touch if you are keeping it in the same place in a workshop ect...

the stand is adjustable from 3 and a half foot to around 7 foot so anybody of any height could use it, it is also great for getting underneath the bike for cleaning ect. when it is all folded in for storage, it measures 4 ft in length, 14 inches across at the clamp and 6 inches at the legs, so a very compact unit for storage. the stand includes a tray with little sections for organising tools and lubes, and can be placed in any position you want, and is bolted on with two allen bolts. and the clamp can also be tilted or rotated anyway you wish.

so far ive already used it for some wheel truing and some cable adjustment and already found it a great help, and i am going to use it for storing the bike in the garage up a height.

in conclusion this stand is well worth the £30 i payed for it and i am glad i got this over other slightly cheaper ones without adjustment's and the clamp. it is heavy duty, robust and very adjustable for any position you want as well as being sturdy enough for anything you wish to do to it, not to mention you can have it next day if you are in a rush. any questions please ask!!

the only thing that could just is the bolts, but if you keep them with some oil on and wipe them down afterwards i cant see an issue  i will be using it for cleaning

you cant go wrong for £30 to be honest, it will pay for itself over time, also a great incentive to learn more about self maintaining your bike, that also saved on repair fee's
