A classic welsh route taking in the mountains and lakes of mid wales along the west coast for a bit then back for the awesome decent down the Elan Valley.

Approx 88 miles with nearly 10 000ft of ascent and descent. A great scenic ride on very quiet roads with surprisingly good surfaces.

Get your names down quick if you think you re hard enough

Call me an old hippy, but I rather like the Quarry Cafe, which is an outpost of the marvellous Centre for Alternative Technology (just up the road in Pantperthog). It's in the main drag (Heol Maengwyn), very near the clock tower. I think it's vegetarian, but you can get decent substantial pies served with big salads, and homemade cakes. Local wholefoods 'n' all that.
