You certainly can on a lot of cars with keyless ignition.

Surely the key still needs to be in the 'ignition' to unlock the steering etc even if the actual ignition is achieved via a starter button? I'm no expert on modern cars though.

Stop being so picky and pedantic, I was purely offering up a little bit of advice to those who like me may not have known the rules.
