What channel is the match on ? I'll make a point of giving it a miss.

Slightly O/T. Is it true that Yorkshire C.C.C. was the last one to drop the rule that you were of Yorkshire stock to play for them ?

In fact it was the only one.;)

It was however the last of the clubs to lift the rule that you had to be born in the county to play for the club.

I don't often join in football threads, but I'll add another vote for FF's detailed wisdom.

But I'd put it a bit more succinctly.
Imagine we're running one of those Word Association threads (like so many that have gone on before ;)).

We come round to the word "Football".
What is the next word likely to be?
I'd be prepared to lay ten to one odds, that the next word will be "Hooligan".

'nuff said?

aaaaaaaaaagggggggghhhhh

is there no drug capable of immunising one against the horrors of football commentary and speculation while conducting a normal life? Honestly, if I have to listen to any more on the future of Steve McLaren (there, I've said the name, please God strike me down) I'm going to take up mountain biking. Or buy a triple.

The next word would be "cyclist" then, seeing as we are on stereotypes?

It's all set up nicely for England to throw it all away on Wednesday!!!

This useless oik has already given up

Whereas this man has already issued the war cry

The Manager is clueless we might just scrape through on Wednesday, the media will then whip up a frenzy that we will win and we will come home early after losing on penalties.

I am rapidly losing interest in the Cash Cow that is modern football.

The England team gave up long ago Elmer!

A tad harsh there are still a couple of them who have passion and are not just interested in drawing wages.

Selection needs to be looked at, the England Squad does not have to consist of the top 20 earners.
