Not a good performance, but typical of a first match in the group stages. The important thing was not to lose.

Apparantly HD viewers were on an advert when England scored. That happened before, the game escapes me but ITV also did the same thing in the closing stages of an F1 race a few years ago. THEY SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED NEAR LIVE SPORTING EVENTS.

I believe this was the toughest game in the group and we drew duY to a freak galoalkeeping error, rather than a better team.

I don't think we should panic - this should be enough to see us through.
Until we get knocked out in the quarters as usual

don't panic. a cup campaign builds from the first game; nobody ever won the world cup beating someone 5-0 in the first game.

I think what has happened is they have quite cleverly now stopped the mass hysteria that we are the best team ever to play the game,we'll now be ecstatic just to get into the latter stages where we can valiantly lose to Germany on a penalty shoot out in the quarter finals and the world will be restored to normality

Seen this for thirty years...apart from the 1990 World Cup although blowing it on penalties was a bit of a gutter.

I suppose now we just have to get further than the USA.

Ok I also wanted us to beat them more than anything,but that's life.

Christ - I've never seen such negativity-we dominated and drew (through a freak goalkeeping incident) with the 2nd best team in our group.

In 1990 we drew twice and beat Egypt 1-0 to qualify and went on to the semis.
