Err.... I think you are confusing sexuality with sexual identity.

Anyway, seemingly you have to dress up as a woman/man for a period of time before they will even consider doing anything, they wont just do these things without being sure its what is wanted.

Whilst I haven't been following it, it might partly explain the beard (although it does look daft, I agree).
