Indeed, but you will not be able to fill it up in the cheap hours using a granny charger. Might be able to add 8-10 kWh, which might be good for 30-40 miles or so, depending on consumption.
Agreed. It's a case of doing one's own sums to reflect the particular circumstances. In our case what works best* is a 24-7 low rate tariff rather than an overnight EV/E7/E10 tariff with a fast charger, but I do the maths every quarter to check. If I had a more consumptive EV, or did more than the roughly 10k mile pa, then the equation would change, I'm sure.

My granny does 2.3 kw per hour, so it'd be 14 kWh, meaning 50 miles or so for the 6 cheap hours.
*Meaning the lowest aggregate overall electricity bill pcm for our household, incl EV
