Our Wallbox ended up at around £1000 installed. it’s a lot of labour

My was probably £1000. Getting the cable from the main box under the stairs to a sensible location outside without unsightly cable runs involved installing an extra box plus large isolation switch, then accessing floor voids, avoiding solid floors and drilling through walls.
But the overall result is good.
We are also on a looped shared supply with the neighbours house, which apparently is what happened in 1930s but no longer allowed.
If your main board is in the garage or outside your front door then it very easy.

My first EV charger was completely free. A straight job, with extra breaker in garage consumer unit.

Since then I've paid for mine and the kids Evs charger points, each getting more expensive than the last, due to complexity of installation

Can anyone with basic knowledge of electrics do it or is it too complex for that ?
Edit
Just seen Beebos comment.

There is a bit of complexity as I think you need to add a CMD on the input cable to make sure that you never pull more than 100A for the whole house. Not convinced you are allowed to install it yourself.

As noted by Beebo, a quick and easy job if you have the distribution board in the garage. If it isn't convenient for the outside wall where you have the charger, could be a pain.

Our fuse board is in the garage so it was pretty straightforward

My electrician quoted me £200 to install a wall charger. Granted it’s a simple job, only being on the outside wall directly adjacent to the incoming supply and meter etc.
