How about the Supermarine Spitfire? The perfect marriage of form and function*.

(* just don't mention the ungraceful side-to-side waggle the pilots had to do when taxying to see ahead)

Right then, I found an image and copied it into a word document. Then I followed the instructions in FAQ on the start page here and when I got to clicking on the down arrow for uploading pictures it showed the list but nothing happened. And now I've got that peculiar stress which you only get when computers are being incredibly stupid.

Andy. Find your image on the web.
Right click and click on 'Copy Image Location'
Come back to the little reply box and click on the mountain icon (next to the quote one)
Ctrl-V into the popup box which appears, click on OK...and if you are really unsure, Preview Post before launching it for our delicatation!

I like to live up to expectations!

Top tip- if you want more space then the flip down seats in the wheelchair space at the end of Coach C (usually the B end) are often free.

Grandmothers, Jonesy, and eggs. I am already a seating-plan nerd. And it's not true that they're often free - not outside working hours anyway. I could go on, but then I realised that this might be a very boring conversation to anyone who doesn't travel by FGW...

At risk of continuing the nerd discussion... oddly enough the reason I head for that space at peak commuting time is because I can usually find a space there. And particularlly useful when smugly carrying the afforementioned Bromton. Maybe it is something to do with which coaches people tend to get on at Reading and Didcot.

Andy in Sig, just open the picture in your browser, say through Google Images. Click on the address in the address bar so that it goes blue. Click copy. Then go back to your post in CC and paste in the address then enclose the address with a
at the end.

This is the Gravity chair designed by Peter Opsvik - 1983, so only a baby. But the Balans concept of sitting is cool and the guy in the picture (alas not me) is 'laid back' in the most comfortable fashion - it is an experience!

Haven't got one of these anymore, but another enduring classic is the Tizio lamp by Richard Sapper. Often to be found illuminating ones Wassily chair leather...
