Having got HORRIBLY drunk on a bottle of Teachers in my youth, I avoid whisky like the plague.

However, I can stomach a glass of Lagavulin every now and then.

JD is OK if doused with Coke.

Talisker. With one ice cube (wouldn't want to drown it).

ICE????

These distillers employ a little old man whose job is to get the whisky to the peak of perfection, ensuring just the right amount of everything goes into the bottle and you add ice?

Next someone will be along telling us they add water, or something fizzy!:eek:

I've heard that yer real whisky buff insists on a splash - just a splash. (Anything else is strictly verbotten. Anything fizzy = execution.)

Water is supposed to let the flavour out whereas ice is supposed to lock it in. Or perhaps it's the other way around.

12 years ago, three days before Christmas, I was finishing work just after midnight, stabling the train in the sidings when i came across a "suspicious" package. I investigated the package and found that it was a woodern box, christmas wrapped, and inside was a bottle of 25 year old Highland Park. The bottle was numbered and dated, and as it is classed as perishable goods, no need to hand it in, I gave it a good home. It was delicious.

If it had been five years ago and 12 year old Canadian Club, I'd be coming round yours to collect. 25 year old, man, they must have had to hire someone to kick them..

As to water, I never seemed to add the 'correct' amount to make said magic happen, so I quit.

And mine's a Bruichladdich Rocks.

Right. Enough of yer ballocks.

Highland Park. With a tiny splash of water.

Bruichladich Peat (so peaty it makes your urine smell of smoke!), with a slightly bigger than tiny splash of water.

Bushmills 10 yr old single, with a decent splash of water, or neat if you're in the mood.
