Films that make you go meh.

LA Confidential is on tonight (here in France). That's a film that I've never really rated. I know it's all style and steamy and noir and stuff, and it doesn't suck, but I really don't get the accolades it gets.

Have you got any films like that? That is, films that people generally rate but just, for whatever reason, pass you by. I'm not talking about movies you don't like (movies often divide), just those that you don't get perhaps despite their reviews. They leave you shrugging your shoulders, thinking 'yeh, and?'.

Yes, that's the sort of thing I mean Alex. 'Run Lola Run' - I've not seen it myself (there are a couple of versions I believe, different names though I think???)

Not simply a movie you didn't like, you may even think it was ok, but one that bemuses you as to why it's so well regarded.

Good call. I liked it myself (though bit of a silly end as I recall and imho) but that's exactly the sort of reputation I mean.

Ditto 'No Country for Old Men' (if that's the one meant). That's also one I felt I must have nipped out for a pee during and missed the good bit!
